Privacy Policy

We collect as little as possible. This page explains what is collected, by whom, and the choices you have.

Last updated:

Summary

  • You do not need an account, and we do not ask for your name, email or any financial information.
  • The search boxes run in your browser. What you type is not sent to our servers.
  • We use Google Analytics to measure traffic, but only if you accept analytics cookies in the banner. You can change your choice at any time.
  • Our advertising partner and hosting provider may collect technical data and use cookies, described below.
  • We do not sell personal information that we collect ourselves.

Information we collect

Information you provide

We collect information only if you email us (for example at contact@countycostreport.com). We use it to reply and keep a record of the correspondence.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our web servers and content delivery network may log standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, device type, the pages requested and the time of the request. We use this for security, troubleshooting and measuring overall traffic.

Cookies and similar technologies

The site itself sets only one item of its own: your cookie choice, stored in your browser's local storage so we do not ask you again on every page. Analytics cookies are set by Google Analytics only after you accept them (next section). Our advertising partner may also place cookies or use similar technologies in your browser, as explained in the section on advertising. You can control cookies in your browser settings, and you can change your analytics choice at any time with the “Cookie settings” button in the footer of every page.

Analytics (Google Analytics)

With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google, to understand how many people visit the site, which pages they view and how they arrive, so we can improve the content. Google Analytics is not loaded, and no analytics cookie is set, until you click “Accept” in the consent banner. If you click “Reject” or ignore the banner, no analytics script runs.

What is collected

When analytics is on, Google Analytics sets cookies (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an identifier) and collects usage data such as the pages you view, the time of your visit, your approximate location, your device, browser and operating system, the page that referred you, and a randomly generated identifier. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store full IP addresses. We do not use analytics to identify you personally, and we do not combine this data with any other information about you.

Legal basis and retention

The legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR and the ePrivacy rules on cookies). Analytics data is kept for the retention period configured in our Google Analytics account, and then deleted automatically. Cookies expire according to Google's settings, which are generally up to two years.

Who receives the data

Google acts as our processor for analytics. Data may be processed by Google LLC and its affiliates in the United States and other countries, under the safeguards Google relies on for international transfers, such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses. Read more in Google's Privacy Policy and in How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Your choices

  • Withdraw or change consent at any time with the “Cookie settings” button in the footer. Withdrawing is as easy as giving consent; it stops analytics and removes the Google Analytics cookies from this site.
  • Block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
  • Install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Consent for advertising is handled separately by our advertising partner, as described in the next section.

Advertising

We display advertising through Mediavine, a third-party ad management partner. Mediavine and its advertising partners may collect and use data about your device and browsing, such as IP address, identifiers, and information about the pages you view, to serve and measure ads, including ads tailored to your interests. They may use cookies, web beacons and similar technologies for this purpose. Learn more in the Mediavine Privacy Policy.

To opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies, you can visit the Digital Advertising Alliance, the Network Advertising Initiative, or, in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Your Online Choices.

How we use information

  • To operate, secure and improve the site.
  • To understand overall traffic, so we know which data and pages are useful.
  • To respond to messages and corrections.
  • To show advertising that keeps the site free.

Sharing

We share information only with service providers that help us run the site (hosting, content delivery, advertising) and when required by law. We do not sell personal information we collect ourselves.

Your rights

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you have the right to access, correct, erase or restrict the use of your personal data, to object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority; in Romania this is the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing (ANSPDCP).

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to know what personal information is held about you, to access, correct or delete it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information or of targeted advertising. This includes residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas and other states with privacy laws, and of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom. Because we hold almost no personal information directly, most choices are made through your browser, the consent tool shown on the site, and the opt-out links above. To make a request, email contact@countycostreport.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

Browser signals such as Global Privacy Control are honored where the law requires and where our advertising partner supports them.

Children

The site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Security and retention

The site is served over HTTPS. Server logs are kept only as long as needed for security and operations. Emails are kept as long as needed to handle your request.

Our pages link to government and partner sites. Their privacy practices are their own, and we encourage you to read their policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest revision. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
